Before You Travel

Important information to help ensure a memorable travel experience.

International Travel Information

All international travelers are encouraged to participate in the U.S. State Department Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP). This free service allows U.S. Citizens travelling abroad to register their trip with the nearest U.S. Embassy or Consulate to receive safety conditions and emergency notifications in their destination country.

Purchase of our Cancel For Any Reason trip protection plan is highly recommended for overseas travel as travel restrictions may change frequently. Travel Protection Plans are available starting at $49 per person and must be purchased at time of booking. Before travelling abroad, learn what medical service your health insurance will cover overseas. In general, Medicare does not cover medical care services while traveling outside the United States. Visit medicare.gov for more information.

Please note entry requirements and fees that have recently been instituted for visitors to these destinations:

  • United Kingdom Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA): The United Kingdom is introducing a new Electronic Travel Authorization system. The ETA is a digital pre-travel authorization required for most visitors, including the United States. Beginning January 8, 2025, it will be mandatory for non-European travelers to have a valid ETA in order to travel to the UK. An ETA costs £10 (approx. $12.50) and permits multiple journeys to the UK of up to six months at a time over two years or until the holder’s passport expires – whichever is sooner. Applications for the ETA are available beginning November 27, 2024. Apply for an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA).
  • Aruba Sustainability Fee: Beginning July 1, 2024, visitors arriving Aruba by air are required to pay a $20 Sustainability Fee, which can be paid through the online Embarkation & Disembarkation (ED) Card platform
  • Venice: Beginning April 2024, day visitors to the Old City of Venice, Italy, are required to pay an entry fee of €5. Guests overnighting in Venice are exempt from the day-trip fee, but will need to register on the site in order to receive an exemption code. Visit https://cda.ve.it/en/ to pay the Venice Access Fee or request an exemption.
  • Bali: A foreign visitor's tax in Bali went into effect February 2024. This fee can be paid online or at airport counters on the island and costs IDR 150,000 per person (approx $10).
